Enrolling military and defense personnel in our Six Sigma training will teach them the tools necessary to reduce defects or mistakes as well as maximize the resources (budget/employees) they are given to work with. When it comes to the military and/or defense branches of government, this is especially important. For example, to quote the United States Navy’s Office of Naval Research, its efforts seek to “improve productivity, encourage innovation and foster a culture of change in the pursuit of excellence”.
Six Sigma Certification is a vital component in achieving that goal. Six Sigma will ultimately reduce waste caused by defects and can eliminate the non-value-added flow of information/materials, data storage, stacks of inventory, overproduction, extra processing, and more.
Because military and defense processes are put in place to help everyone on a large scale, it is imperative that these processes are 6-Sigma perfect, with as little waste as possible. Statistically, this translates to 99.9997% effective, or less than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. Realistically, this means efficient processes that take the least possible resources to make the biggest possible impact. When military and defense personnel are trained in Six Sigma Methodologies, they are given the tools to make big improvements that are both well-received and sustainable, leading to a state of continuous improvement and better overall services.
