Identifying the root cause of waste related issues is a difficult method to learn. In order to be able to identify the root cause, you will need to engage in a 5 Why? analysis.
This analysis is accomplished by determining what the primary reasons are for the specific business problem that your organization is dealing with. It is called a why analysis, because in order for the root cause to be identified, there are several why related questions that have to be asked. Typically, the amount of why related questions that will need to be asked to get to a root cause are five.
The first why related questions will make simple assumptions about the reasons why an organization is experiencing an issue. They will arrive at several reasons why the problem may be occurring. When the fourth and fifth questions are asked, this is where the individual will be able to come to a conclusion regarding the root cause of an issue in the specific organization. Asking the right types of questions will help an organization determine what other avenues need to be taken in order to rectify the issues at hand.

An individual that obtains the training they need will be able to maximize the influence they have at business meetings, in order to come up with the best solution to a specific problem. The individuals will be able to pinpoint specific areas that require enhancements to be made. They will be more productive, and they will be efficient when it comes to fixing issues that need to be rectified within a specific organization.
