Creating the opportunity to get promoted or advance quickly in your current profession is a management skill that everyone should possess, but few people do. Knowing what to do in order to supercharge your career and increase your chances of getting promoted are key to landing the position that you have always wanted. Career advancement is not just about working hard; it’s also about being noticed for what you do.

People who appear to always be leading new projects and taking out the appropriate time that they need to get the job done are the people that advance the quickest.

You will not be able to build a proper advancement plan for yourself if you are not aware of what your strengths and weaknesses are. You will need to know how to magnify your strengths to make them visible to leading people in your organization, and work on your weaknesses, so you can later turn them into your strengths.  Most employers do not want their top people to portray any weaknesses to other people in the organization. By working on your weaknesses, you will be working yourself towards a promotion. With a promotion comes more responsibilities and more pay.

In order to be promoted, you need to show the people that are employed in your organization that you deserve the chance to be moved out of your current position and put into a position that requires more from you. The only way that the leading executives of your company are going to know that you deserve a promotion is to make yourself visible to them.

Leading executives do not promote people that they do not know. You need to make your accomplishments visible in their eyes. For example, if you are in sales, you need to try to always work towards being the best salesperson on your team. When upper management starts to see your name on a continuous basis, they are going to want to meet the person behind the numbers.

People who get promoted are people who allow themselves to be promoted. Believe it or not, there are some who only want to do the bare minimum that they are expected to do at their jobs and then go home for the night. Workers that do not attempt to excel at their current occupations will never be promoted or recognized for what they can and cannot do.
