Business Theories: Projecting the Future, Protecting Today

One business theory that has emerged on the positive side of things is simply called Theory Z. This theory states that through the creation of an environment conducive to work and filled with positive reinforcement and a desire to improve their well-being both on and off the job site; you will create a team of members dedicated to seeing the success of your business venture. The positivity exuded in such an endeavor leads to a feeling of stability and a mindset of longevity versus simply being in the moment. The end result is an increase in your business’ level of service overall to both internal and external customers, while creating stable employment for those who aided the project throughout its journey. It is by no means an end, however, in the sense that once it has gone through its full cycle, it is over; rather it is a continuing process that helps to keep that morale on an increased level over a length of time.
Another more well known theory, although it lacks a formal name, is that of potential growth. Potential growth can be applied to the business as well as the individual within the business. One or the other can only progress as far as those holding the reins will allow or can fathom. Take the employee for example. If the employee in question was just recently hired, received little to no formal training, and was expected to perform at levels equal to one hundred percent, what do you believe the outcome would be? That being said, let’s take that same said employee, give them proper training and tools for the job they are to perform and set them in the same situation. The result would be astounding. Add in the chance for promotion and the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skill base through continued training courses, and you will have a budding super star on your hands.
In the world of business, there is a time and place for theories. The theories that you see in your own inner workings are created more often than not out of missed opportunities. Are you going to sit back idle and do nothing? Or will you be the one to enact change in your organization to ensure a brighter tomorrow?
