Six Sigma Training is Relevant to Many Different Types of Organizations

Six Sigma training is equally important for small and middle sized organizations as it is to large sized companies. For a long time, it was thought to only be relevant to large organizations, but now it is being used in almost every industry you can think of from small mom and pop shops to Fortune 500 companies.

Six Sigma training can help a company do its business in a more effective manner. In fact, its popularity and documented results have opened up the doors for thousands of opportunities for those who are able to master different levels including green and black belt levels.  This means that there is a huge market for those who are trained in this field and this, in turn, has led to the proliferation of Six Sigma training seminars as well as courses. This kind of exercise teaches the student how to reduce variations in processes in order to reduce defects in products and services. At the same time, there is plenty of variation in the type of courses or seminars that are being offered.

It would not be wrong to say that if you attended green belt level courses at different universities, you will find that each offers something different and these differences may be as pronounced as when you compare geometry to algebra.  This is because there is no standardization of the courses or an accrediting body for the Methodlogy, despite a big push for one from the Six Sigma Community.  This is why it is crucial and essential to do your research before choosing a training provider.  So, when you go looking for a job with a Master black belt level education, do not be too surprised if your qualifications are not enough to land you a job; with the Six Sigma designation, experience is key.  Most employers want to see previous Projects that you have headlined that show documented savings for a company.

Therefore, anyone that is planning on undergoing Six Sigma training must first find out what is being taught and whether it is relevant to their goals and aspirations. This may not be all that easy because most students are not very sure about what this process is in the first place.  These individuals do so because they realize that there is huge demand in many different industries for those who complete this particular kind of training. To compound things further, Six Sigma is also a very vast field and so you cannot absorb it in its entirety by joining a short course that only lasts for a few weeks.  It is also very deeply rooted in statistical theory.  Although it is not always required, a good background in statistics is often a must if you want to take your training course seriously.

You can also choose to complete your training by taking up an online course. These courses offer several benefits but also suffer from a few drawbacks, just like any other choice. The main advantages include cost, easier time management, and no commute.  Essentially, these courses can be done at any time, at work or at home, in any place with an internet connection.  In addition, the student gets plenty of time in which to complete the course. However, they will not benefit from getting one on one instruction in person.  Online Six Sigma Courses often offer instructor support to offset this drawback, which should be looked into before signing up.

Whether you choose an online course or one that involves classroom instruction, you will need to make time and dedicate yourself to the subject material.  This is not an easy concept to learn, and students often give up in the middle.  As long as you have the drive and determination to achieve your own Six Sigma Certification in order to further your career, you cannot go wrong with either choice!
