At its most basic definition, Six Sigma is a process improvement tool that serves to lower defect ratios to a standard of 3.4 defects per million opportunities. As such, it has been applied by many different companies, businesses and industries that have all seen a lot of success through their Six Sigma Projects. There are many people who hear of the general definition of the Six Sigma Process, and immediately presume that it cannot help their business. The problem with that is that Six Sigma has so many different applications that people do not know whether it can be effective or not until they consider what problems they're having and what the best way to fix those problems is.

Six Sigma deployment doesn't stop on the warehouse floor. There are many other applications for the Six Sigma Process, all of which involve various aspects and elements of business. It has gotten to a point in recent years where there are actually more instances of other industries benefiting from Six Sigma Projects than the manufacturing sector. As such, people need to embrace a holistic way of thinking about the Six Sigma Process, which will allow them to find many different applications for Six Sigma all over their business.

The first step and embracing everything that Six Sigma Projects has to offer is to be open-minded and forget about any predisposed ideas were misconceptions that you might have about the Six Sigma Process. Once you dispel any of your fears and/or misconceptions, you will be better able to address your problems and choose the best solution for them. Think not about what Six Sigma has done for businesses so far, but what Six Sigma can do for your business in the future. Everyone knows that in order to succeed, a business needs to have a forward thinking mentality, and the same goes for the utilization of Six Sigma.

Even when you can't find an application for the entire Six Sigma Process, you need to at least consider how the various Six Sigma Tools can help improve your business processes. You don't necessarily have to use the entire process every single time. There's a lot to be said for only using a selected number of Six Sigma Tools in lieu of an entire Six Sigma Process. By taking the time to understand and embrace the Six Sigma Methodology, your business will be much better able to reap the benefits of this program than if it listened to the ignorant ramblings of those who don't believe in the method.
