Lean Six Sigma has a design that is used to eliminate wastes and make workplaces and processes more efficient. When you are in an industry like fast food where every second counts, and the goal is speed and efficiency, utilizing Lean Six Sigma to improve processes could prove to be a very useful resource. The fast food industry thrives on being quick and efficient in everything that they do. When processes slow down, people are not satisfied and things are not operating at their best. This can make any fast food business find a need for process improvement no matter how big or small. Fortunately, Lean Six Sigma has a variety of tools that can be used to make things better in any situation.
One of the most common issues of process improvement in fast food is the time and speed in which everything is completed. The goal is to serve the customer quickly and efficiently and get them on their way so that they can enjoy an actual fast food experience as it was designed to be. When little things go wrong in the process, this is no longer possible. As such, the answer can often lead to the use of Lean Six Sigma.
For the sake of practical example, imagine that a fast food restaurant is experiencing wastes on the grill line because there are too many steps and too many people completing these steps which of course leads to things slowing down. With Lean Six Sigma, the entire process can be analyzed, and statistical analysis can demonstrate where wastes occur, how to get rid of them, and better ways to improve the situation on a factual and data-driven level. After looking at everything, you can see that there are too many people in the same spot, and it is slowing things down. By reallocating the employees throughout the workplace, it will be much easier to succeed in speed and efficiency.
By utilizing even parts of the Lean Six Sigma Process, you will be able to make your business more efficient in many different ways. There is no rule that says that you have to use the entire process, or that you cannot benefit from one certain part of the process or another. Just take the time to get the right Six Sigma Training, and you can find many of your own advantages in the use of Six Sigma within the fast food industry.
