Benefits Of Obtaining a Six Sigma Certification
- Categorized in: Six Sigma Certification & Training
Many people who are either entering the job market for the first time, or are re-entering due to reasons beyond their control have added a Six Sigma certification to their portfolio. Having this designation can help you stand out from the competition. Many Fortune 500 companies have initiated this program and have benefitted from the results. Studies have shown that those who have completed a Six Sigma training and certification program can increase their earning potential as well as be better able to attain their career goals.
Six Sigma Certification (through 6 Sigma Training) is available from many colleges and universities, as well as many other training providers both online and onsite. There are different levels of training and certification that you can achieve such as Lean Sensei, Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt, and Master Black Belt. Each of these levels corresponds to a different set of education criteria and certification program that will help you to begin to maximize both your performance at work as well as commanding the respect of peers and other employers. As this methodology is rooted in a teamwork format, it is important to have the different levels of mastery in the Six Sigma Theories; the Master Black Belt being one of the highest levels, down to the Yellow Belt, one of the most basic certifications.
Online programs can be accomplished conveniently and efficiently. You will be on your way to gaining new credentials, prestige and a certification that builds your career goals. This program will provide an overall understanding of the techniques within 6 Sigma. There are basic metrics as well as methods for improvement that will be covered depending on your course of study.
To achieve the Yellow Belt designation, one has to understand how to implement these methods for the enhancement of transactional and production systems. This is so that the organization as a whole can better their bottom line objectives and meet customer expectations within the culture of the organization.
Yellow Belts generally have the basic understanding of the program. They are given responsibility for the creation of process mapping that will lend overall support of the project. They also participate as a member of the core team on projects. Essentially, they are support staff when it comes to Six Sigma Projects. They also may be responsible for managing smaller improvement projects for process mapping. They are trained to use the Plan, Do, Check and Act, or PDCA method. This will equip them in identifying areas around the business that need improvement in efficiency.
Some of the smaller projects can be managed by individuals with the next level of certification, which are the Green Belts. All large scale or major projects are lead by Black or Master Black Belts. This is normally accomplished by using a statistical processing method to increase savings in cost. The Yellow Belts, in this instance, will help provide a basic orientation to process mapping and management as well as the basic tools within Six Sigma.
The Lean Six Sigma program helps to provide an approach that is systematic in the reduction of waste of valuable resources. It reviews products that may be defective as well as defective work processes that create defective products or services. This particular process helps to discover the areas of over production, inventory, defects and wait times in order to ultimately be able meet the needs of the customers at the lowest cost possible.
