How To Introduce Six Sigma Training To IT Employees
When a new system like Six Sigma is brought in, there is bound to be resistance as it is seen to be an imperative change mechanism which brings in the fear of losing current status.
The introduction can be done undertaking presentations of various levels of employees, conducting trainings – internal and external - employee meetings, and so on.
Some organizations also attempt to introduce and implement Six Sigma by hiring the services of consultants for the job.
Presentations
One of the most effective tools is a brief and well-organized presentation for the benefit of the organization. A presentation to initiate the first view of a Six Sigma project has to be extremely interesting and effective to make a good impression on employees.
It is necessary that the presentation stimulates and generates interest in future Six Sigma projects. A short speech, better known as an elevator speech, can be very effective in giving a quick overview of the entire project and the concept as a whole. If the importance of the project is well comprehended by the employees, then it makes the Six Sigma team's further jobs a bit simpler.
It also helps in bringing about participation of many employees in various phases of the project. A brief overview, or small leaflets explaining the terms and the basics of Six Sigma training, can form a base for future Six Sigma training sessions and create an overall interest in the Six Sigma initiative.
It also helps eliminate apprehensions in the minds of the employees about the aim of such initiatives. Additionally, employees are made aware of how Six Sigma training works, its importance and brings about the active participation of other employees. These employees can further work on developing the culture of Six Sigma in the organization. Large companies often prefer to undertake internal Six Sigma training. They generally have some training centers and may invite the consultants to conduct the training at these centers.
This helps, as the training can be arranged for a larger number of employees.
Consultants
