Types Of Six Sigma Training
Six Sigma training helps top managers gain new perspectives and acquire insights into existing problems and challenges.

The following types of Six Sigma training are currently available for various ranks of professionals:

Six Sigma training for top managers: Meant for top ranking managers, it may include Black Belt training apart from the business and financial benefits of implementation. It also includes a program overview, business and real-world examples of successful deployments and specific applications to business and industry.

Six Sigma training for functional & process managers: Meant for Sponsors and Champions, this training is more detailed than that imparted to top managers.

It includes Six Sigma concepts, methodologies, tools and requirements and helps to ensure successful implementation within the organization.

Six Sigma training for quality leaders: This program helps functional and process managers set and lead the Six Sigma vision within their specific areas.

It includes detailed information about the concept, methodology and tools, as well as detailed statistics training and computer analysis tool use.

Six Sigma training for project leaders: Usually called Black Belt training, it focuses on implementing the Six Sigma methodology and tools within the business.

It includes detailed information about the concept, methodology and tools.

Six Sigma training for lower rank employees: Usually called Green Belt training, it has been developed for part-time project leaders. It closely resembles the Black Belt training program, but is shorter in duration.  Less detail on complex tools and statistics is provided.

Apart from the above types of Six Sigma training, the following types of training are also available:

Lean Six Sigma (LSS) training: This combines the fundamentals of Six Sigma principles and Lean tools such as physical maps, time value, Kanban, etc.

It helps equip trainees with the techniques needed to bring about improvements in speed, quality and cost. As a result-oriented initiative, it helps employees remove wasted effort from repetitive processes.

It is mostly useful for the professionals working in manufacturing companies. With some modifications, it can be used in non-manufacturing environments as well.

Six Sigma training for Call centers: This is usually a comprehensive course for call center professionals. It enables them to use data and statistical analysis - and as a result, they are able to identify and eliminate defects in service-related processes.

This leads to a disciplined approach and brings about marked improvement in call center performance

Specialization in DFSS: Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is fast emerging as an independent branch of Six Sigma quality processes. Unlike the tools used in Six Sigma processes, DFSS seeks to determine the needs of customers and the business, and drives those needs into the resultant product solution.

DFSS is especially relevant in the context of unprecedented system development.

Training at Motorola University: Motorola University teaches Six Sigma at three levels, namely as a metric, as a methodology and as a management system. For process improvement it uses the methodology of DMAIC (i.e., Define opportunity, Measure performance, Analyze opportunity, Improve performance and Control performance).
